Internet Business: overcoming stereotypes

Stereotype is defined as the general view held about a group with shared habits, cultural profiles, racial or professionals, etc.

Some dictionaries define the stereotype as "Idea or image accepted by most as the standard or model or behavioral qualities." Today I want to comment on the importance of overcoming stereotypes when doing business online.

These pre-conceptions can be racial, professional, gender, national, religious, and generalizations are important in our communication with others. But too often also tend to be negative, malicious or best, superficial. The ability to discern between the bias and the standard is a necessity when doing business online, to avoid delays when assessing potential partners or services.

The Age of Communication provides us with different human groups, which requires a design that encourages open and cooperative relationships with people different from ourselves. The very foundation of the Internet business is determined by the ability to connect with the world.

When I started on the Internet just out of Cuba. I did not know how it worked all: Credit Card, Internet, the dangers of "phishing ... I was dazzled by the potential of technology to promote our work, in finding the levels of automation in contemporary societies. So excited, as he discovered the "modus operandi" behind the appearance of Internet, I was telling family and friends ...

I heard it all:

- Money from home? ... Let steal your credit card number, of course "they" do business on the Internet! (... This terrified me, until I realized that I had no credit card).

- Virtual Communities to learn what ...?. Offenders virtual! S genius pretending to go through to steal the Social Security number. (The 2 most common stereotypes on the Internet, the "Scammer" and "Guru". With this I panicked even more when, in fact, some affiliate programs I asked the SS # as a matter of taxes)

- Multilevel what? Pyramid! Boy ... look, find a real job! (Stereotype of Network Marketing as a Ponzi Scheme)

- Associate of where ...? Is the India? Al-Qaeda! (... You know)

He trembled every time she thought of the potential versions of hell that awaited me ... I was reading, researching, re-read, paralyzed between "information overload" and distrust.

Common sense brought me back on Facebook, when an associate of Indian origin living in UK and is now involved with me in one of my SEO Business, said goodbye in the chat conversation after our first contact with a "khuda hafiz "(god bless you in Spanish ...)

... I closed the chat and I began to weigh options: block Facebook, change the account, format the hard drive, throw the computer, call the FBI!

At last! I lost too much time trying to discern something I already knew: that the Internet, like all life, people and events have a reality beyond the stereotype.

Run on unfounded prejudice takes precious time that we can use to implement an Internet business model and global cash.

Study, research and take your time (the tools to check are in the same Internet.), But be aware of your own actions, I know cooperative, courteous and transparent. He thinks whoever and wherever you are, on the other end is a person like you, taking time to educate themselves and build your reality as you build you your own.

You avoid the ill-informed preconceptions you to hide or get diverted valuable partner of the opportunity at your fingertips. But above all, to distinguish between "wheat straw" in the reality of Internet business and choose where you want to be, you will avoid yourself fitting end to stereotypes which we model the collective unconscious.

    Greetings Marco

one of the great mentors I started learning about how the Internet works, described the phenomenon of the solutions implemented and accessed from our home, as "having an ATM machine in the house, but had to learn to build ..."

Of course, I did not believe a word, but I had the patience and curiosity to stay listening. Thank goodness ...!

Regarding stereotypes really are many, embedded in our belief system by prejudices of education. Overcome not only a need for the entrepreneur on the Internet, but for any human to take seriously their status as "an inhabitant of the XXI century":)

    Thanks for stopping ...

    Hello Omar!

I loved how you describe your beginnings in this work ..

The bad unfounded stereotype is one of the causes of the failure of many people who have a desire to start a business online, unfortunately there will always be the obstacle to personal fulfillment.
If we start to ignore prejudice, I'm sure we'd be full of doctors and lawyers.
I do not want that, I'm sure there are many more possibilities on the Internet.
I believe in what my heart tells me, if I think I will work on the internet to attract a lot of success in my business, it is because it will.

    I love this post!
    Congratulations, it's very inspiring!
    I wish you much success

Hello family, and talking about global communication, I answer in two language groups:)

Thanks Magali, Raisa, Mark and Dennis.

When deciding what topic to write this week, I assumed that these fears and preconceptions were probably a common theme to all who do business on the Internet and so I decided to comment on my experience with it.

Because of my work as a creator, I travel a lot and one of the things I've learned is that most of what we think we know about other cultures, happens to be a rather superficial varnish.

Meet with other modes, other languages, other moral views, social, aesthetic, religious, shows us our insignificance compared to the human variety.

Internet is an area of exploration that allows us this trip, but very often do not know how to respond to capacity.

Right now, in this place, we have a conversation from 4 or 5 geographies:) That, I think, is the greatness of "territory" in which we operate.

Thanks for your comments ... and not so encouraging, Raisa finally called the FBI did not but I was ready.

Today I hear the Khuda Hafiz almost daily because I work with this partner in a business SEO. Fortunately, common sense came to my aid!

Hi Christy & the 2 Davids:)

Thanks a lot for your warm comments ...

As Christy mentions, it's great to be Able to Have This Ongoing conversation from So Many Different geographies, thanks to the magic of communication. But yes, for all of us to be here, Stereotype Were Probably a big challenge to Overcome.

In This way, as David 2 points, we are a different kind Pioneering Probably of Humanity, Able to put common interest limited Usually Before our Understanding of the world.

It's great to have you all here, guys!
