Thank you, David!

It´s like the idea of ubiquity in Phylosophy...

What is a webminar, for instance, if not an interface for ubiquity? LOL

I love the idea of social interaction and the capacity of web 2.0 to have conversations many-to-many.

Years ago we used to hear all the time about "the risks of technology isolating us" and how we supposedly started talking less person to person. However, those affirmations missed the point that talking by phone, for instance, was actually a technological way to communicate.

This idea of coming back to our "digital villages" is actually great. Technology erases distances and languages, geographical limitations and time. It´s the first time in History that we can be connected, being apart...

One of the things that I really love about it, it´s also the possibilities that technology brings to play the game against totalitarian control... Like when an empowered (by technology) individual, takes over the news against the control of corporate media. This is even more useful in isolated regimes like China, Iran or Cuba... technology becomes "the eyes and voices" of common people, reporting their own lives.

This is a New Era and there is not a way back... and I just love it :)

Thanks a lot for your great comments, guys!

Interesting post, Omar.

Internet marketers, of course, live by technology. So we MUST keep up with all the changes. It's quite a daunting task at times! But an exciting one for sure.

I think the internet has come full circle as far as social integration. Web 1.0 did tend to isolate people. Everything was information, and was depersonalized. But with Web 2.0, it's become interactive and social. That's why we're able to have this discussion!

I think that eventually the web interactions will bring people into smaller and smaller increasingly intimate circles of friends and associates. So it's kind of funny. Technology blasted us into a great, huge universe, and we're using the same technology to get back to our small little home town... not a geographical home town, but a virtual home town with most of the qualities of growing up in a tiny little town where everybody knows everything about everybody... and talks about it!

Thanks Omar. Very thought provoking post.

Thanks David!

Exactly! The other day I was thinking that the home telephone (the black big ones that the gangsters-detectives movies made so popular), even the fax machine! are now "antiques" in the popular imaginary...

I remember when I was a child that there were some dictionaries that talk about "the future"; how life would be "in the year 2000" and they showed flying cars, etc, as Sharon mentions. But most of them couldn´t see how the small part of technology would modify our lives... like living in a Ray Bradbury´s story.

LOL Raisa, I can´t even imagine either what my granny will ask for when she have her 100 years party! It´s amazing, this woman has lived almost a century now and she still "updates".

Thanks guys for your comments....

Omar, Very well written post. Technology has enhanced our lives and I sometimes wonder what people did before all the cool stuff we have now. Couldn't imagine living in a technology-less world. Give me more!!! ha ha

Hola Omar,

Saludos
Raisa

Hey Omar,

Its amazing how Technology had changed the world in such a short time. Can't imagine what it will be like 20 years from now! We'll probably be getting around in flying cars!

Great post...thanks for sharing!

Sharon

Hi Donna! I have a translator right at the top of the side bar :) if you check the post in the home page http://omarestrada.org

Anyway, I will put one here. I hadn´t noticed that the translator didn´t show if the post is opened separately...

Thanks a lot for pointing at the issue :)

Omar, I do not speak anything but English, but I had a friend translate this for me. Awesome post! Very interesting stuff and I will pass it along. Is there any way you can put a "translator" button on this site? I'm looking into one myself.
But once again, thank you for that wonderful information!
